Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), also known as 2019-nCoV acute respiratory disease (2019-nCoV ARD), is a viral respiratory disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). It is the disease implicated in the 2019-2020 coronavirus pandemic.
The disease was first identified in the city of Wuhan, capital of Hubei province in China, among patients who had developed pneumonia of no clear cause.
