Anyone knows what tree is this ?
Is the tessellated pattern on the trunk due to bushfires ?
(This place was badly burnt by fires half a year ago, around January/February 2020.)

I am attempting to document all the tessellated patterns on rocks I have encountered.
This one is seen on the way to Bonnum Pic in Nattai National Park, NSW, Australia.

Organ Pipes National Park

It is a very small national park near Melbourne,
in Victoria, Australia.

And yet, it has many interesting features.
One of them is Tessellated Pavement.

This place is not as impressive as other tessellated pavements.  But still, it is not everyday you encounter a scene like this  :-)   And grass is now growing between the cracks.  In a few more decades, you won't notice the tessellation pattern  :-(

Tesselate Hill is a little secret
in the Blue Mountains in NSW, Australia.

Not many people know about this place,
let alone visit it.

But it is well known
to the savvy Blue Mountains bushwalkers
for its tessellated rock patterns
on a large flat platform.

Although it is relatively common
to see rocks with tessellation patterns;
yet it is very unusual to see them
covering such a large area as in Tesselate Hill.

By the way, there is only one "l" in "Tesselate" Hill.
That is how it is spelt in the maps.

Tessellated Pavements at Tesselate Hill

1)  From where the car is parked,
it takes 30 mins to climb
to the summit of Tesselate Hill.
Then another 15 mins to reach here,
Tessellated Pavements.

7)  Then it is to explore an unnamed 734-meter hill
     north of Tesselate Hill.
- Red arrow: The unnamed 734-meter hill
- Yellow arrows: The way to reach there
- White oval: Wollangambe River

- There are many patches of
  tessellated rock patterns,
  but not a large contiguous area as in
  Tesselate Hill.
